Two years ago, Komatsu acquired the Joy Global group, which included the French company Montabert, a world-leading brand in the construction of hydraulic drilling hammers and columns.
Montabert currently has six models of drill rigs covering all diameters used in Portugal: from 32 mm for small diameter drillings used in ornamental quarries to 140 mm diameters for aggregate quarries and geotechnical works. .
Cimertex unveiled Montabert’s Micro CPA column for ornamental stone quarrying in a presentation on September 6, 2019, at Perafita Headquarters, attended by the largest companies in the ornamental rock sector, which featured the exhibition of a specimen mounted on a Komatsu PW140 wheel excavator, followed by a hands-on demonstration of drilling to show the versatility of the equipment.
The exposed column was equipped with a 4 kW power HC20 Montabert hammer with an impact frequency of 47 Hz. With this solution it is possible to drill holes between 26 mm and 51 mm using tools that range from the Hexagonal H22 to the R32.
The Micro CPA is controlled using a radio remote control, weighs only 550 kg, allows drilling up to 9 meters and also allows drilling holes with inclinations of +/- 45 ° and can be installed on both excavators from 5 ton, as with telescopic multifunction equipment, for more specific types of work, such as drilling at a height.
At the end of the event, a lunch was held, where more than 40 event participants had the opportunity to discuss the current momentum of the ornamental rock sector, as well as the market outlook for the future.
